HOW DID THEY DO THAT?!

The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Heinz Endowments invite you to an informal brunch and artist-led roundtable discussions featuring current and former grantees from the Advancing Black Arts in Pittsburgh program.

Join Advancing Black Arts in Pittsburgh grantees as they share best practices and explain the art of crafting competitive proposals. Discussions will be arranged by discipline and will explore the development of reasonable timelines and manageable outcomes. Successful grant applicants will share what it takes to implement strategic plans, complete final reports and remain innovative in advancing ideas. All are welcome!

Roundtable panelists include: 

  • Michele Lee Betts, Independent arts consultant and cultural curator
  • Demeatria Boccella, Co-founder of Utopia Model Agency and founder of FashionAFRICANA
  • Billy JacksonDocumentarian and principal owner of NOMMO Productions
  • Darrell Kinsel, Creative entrepreneur, cultural agitator and co-founder of Boom Concepts 
  • Yvonne McBride, Author and oral historian
  • Erin Perry, Dancer, photographer, artist, teacher and executive director of Legacy Arts 
  • Damon Young, Editor-in-chief of VerySmartBrothas (VSB) and professional Black person
