Relief Efforts in the Midwest

Relief efforts have been mobilized in response to the recent flooding and tornadoes in our nation's Midwest communities.  Information about these ongoing efforts as well as details on how you may want to get involved are available below.

Community Foundations

Greater Kansas City Community Foundation - a relief fund has been established for Joplin, MO and more information is available at  https://gkccfonlinedonations.org/joplin/joplin.asp

The Tulsa Community Foundation - is also establishing a fund for Joplin, MO. Contributions can be made online at tulsaworld.com/communityfoundation or mailed to the foundation's offices at 7030 S. Yale, Suite 600, Tulsa, OK 74136.

The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee has established a flood response site at http://www.cfmtfloodresponse.org/.  Donations are being accepted and a list of grants and community impact is also available on the site.

More than 47 tornados ripped through portions of Alabama on April 27.  In response, The Community Foundation of Grater Birmingham has created The Alabama Tornado Recovery Fund to support log term needs across the state.  Donations can be made on-line at www.foundationbirmingham,org or checks can be mailed to Community Foundation of Greater Birminham (AL Tornado Recovery), 2100 1st Avenue North, Suite 700, Birminham, AL 35203.

National Organizations

The Kansas City chapter of the Salvation Army has mobilized in response to the Joplin Tornado.  Cell phone users may text the word JOPLIN to 80888 to make a $10 donation. You may also make a credit card donation by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY     or by going to https://secure20.salvationarmy.org/?projectId=USN-Joplin. Checks may be mailed to The Salvation Army, 3637 Broadway, Kansas City, MO 64111. Please designate the gift "Joplin Tornado".
