Haiti Emergency Relief: The Pittsburgh Foundation Opens On-Line Site for Public Donations
PITTSBURGH, Pa., Jan. 14, 2010 -- Pittsburgh-based organizations mobilizing to support the emergency relief effort in Haiti can receive public donations free of credit card fees through PittsburghGives, the new on-line giving resource developed by The Pittsburgh Foundation. The site can be accessed at: pittsburghgives.org.
The Foundation said today that it will cover all credit card transaction and processing fees charged by its vendor for all donations to organizations supporting the relief effort.
More than 350 local nonprofit organizations are profiled on the PittsburghGives site, and among them are key agencies appealing for public support as they organize emergency relief for the victims of the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti.
Local organizations responding to the relief effort which are also profiled on PittsburghGives include: American Red Cross, Brother’s Brother, Hospital Albert Schweitzer Haiti and Global Links.
Donations to support the relief effort that are provided through PittsburghGives will go directly to the chosen organizations. Donations can be made to multiple organizations from the site and additionally, PittsburghGives serves as a valuable research resource for individuals to seek information about the work of the individual relief organizations.
