Robert P. Bozzone Director Emeritus

Robert P. Bozzone is a retired executive, active philanthropist and engaged investor. He spent 54 years with Allegheny Technologies (NYSE: ATI), where he rose from an entry-level engineer to CEO and chairman of the board. He retired as CEO in 2001 and remained chairman of board until 2004 and a member of the board until 2009.

During his career with ATI, the Pittsburgh-based company grew from a small specialty steel producer (Allegheny Ludlum LLC) to a global leader in the manufacture of specialty materials for a wide range of critical applications including aerospace, defense, oil and gas and transportation. Bob was the president & COO when the company went public in 1987 (NYSE: ALC) and later helped engineer a transformative merger with Teledyne Corporation in 1996 creating Allegheny Teledyne (NYSE: ATI), a global material and defense company with a market cap of over $4B (NYSE: ATI). Over the course of the next few years, the company was further transformed by a series of acquisitions and divestures that resulted in the creation of three separate public companies (Allegheny Technologies, Teledyne Technologies & Water Pik Technologies) aimed at maximizing shareholder value.

In addition to his work with ATI, bob also served on the boards of many companies and organizations including Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland (board of directors & chair of the Pittsburgh branch ,1995); Teledyne Technologies (NYSE TDY) (board of directors 1999-2008); Water Pik Technologies (NYSE PIK)  (chairman 1999-2006 sold to Private Equity firm Carlyle); and Duquesne Light Holdings (NYSE DQU) (chairman 1990 -2007, sold to Private Equity Investor Macquarie Group of Australia). He was also served on the boards of Rensselear Polytechnical Institute, Electric Power Research Institute, Pope John Paul II Cultural Center in Washington, DC, Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, Boy Scouts of America –Greater Pittsburgh Counsel and the Salvation Army advisory board. He was also president of the Duquesne Club in 1994-95.

A native of Glenn Falls, New York, and resident of Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania for over 65 years. Bob and his wife Irene have been extremely active philanthropists in the Pittsburgh region. They have been married for over 50 years and have three grown children and 10 grandchildren. Nationally, their philanthropy supports organizations that focus on education, faith and family.
