What Dead Celebrities Can Teach Us About Estate Planning
The Pittsburgh Foundation and Community Foundation of Westmoreland County's Spring Continuing Learning Event will feature John J. Scroggin, J.D., LL.M., AEP of Scroggin & Company in Roswell, Ga. The lecture entitled “What Dead Celebrities Can Teach Us About Estate Planning” will cover common estate planning mistakes of average clients that are replicated and exacerbated by the wealth associated in celebrity situations. He will also discuss lessons learned from high-profile estate disputes by using contemporary examples including the absence of a will for late music legend Prince and the ongoing legal battle over aging media tycoon Sumner Redstone’s holdings. While most clients do not garner similar media scrutiny and do not possess estates that touch the financial stratosphere, the missteps and potential dilemmas are universal.
