Miklos Family Trust Fund #1Fund established to fulfill a long-time wish of, and create a perpetual memorial to, Michael V. Miklos, M.D. He was a dedicated Neurosurgeon who established a one-man Department of Neurosurgery at McKeesport Hospital because he felt that his little home town was in need of a Neurosurgeon. Because he was a "one-man department" he was always available to his patients, whatever hour of the day or night. Scholarships to persons in need of financial help to continue their education for their third or fourth year at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Eligibility

  • Pursue a degree or studies in: Medicine
  • Have a residence in: Allegheny County, Armstrong County, Beaver County, Bedford County, Blair County, Butler County, Cambria County, Cameron County, Clarion County, Clearfield County, Crawford County, Elk County, Erie County, Fayette County, Forest County, Greene County, Indiana County, Jefferson County, Lawrence County, McKean County, Mercer County, Somerset County, Venango County, Warren County, Washington County, Westmoreland County
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Institution at which to use scholarship: University of Pittsburgh
  • Complete an application.
  • Candidate may be asked to meet with the scholarship committee for an interview.
  • Write and submit an essay: One page which discusses the candidate's reasons for committing to a career as a physician, the strengths he/she brings to the profession, and how he/she envisions serving patients and the profession in the future.
