The Wish Book occupies a unique charitable niche in our community, providing opportunities for individuals and families to make a difference by purchasing tangible items to support the work of our local nonprofit organizations.

Grants made through the Wish Book are meant to be modest, compared with the Foundation's unrestricted grantmaking, which operates separately and focuses on specific community needs, and that is why funding requests in the Wish Book are "capped" at $2,500.  The Wish Book's funding covers education, the environment, creativity, economics, health communities and safe communities.

Any nonprofit organization in Allegheny County, or the six surrounding counties, with a published PittsburghGives portrait can apply for the Wishbook.  Nonporfit organizations in Allegheny County only may apply for a discretionary grant from the Foundation, regardless of funding support received from the Wish Book.   More information about the Foundation's unrestricted grantmaking is available by clicking here.
