The Pittsburgh Foundation

Kitty Julian Director of Communications

For more than 20 years, Kitty has served in communication and advocacy roles in education, the arts, philanthropy, and girls' and women’s leadership. At the Foundation, Kitty reports stories of the good work of our donors, grantees and staff through publications, social media and news media outlets. In this role, she advocates for the policy priorities of the Foundation and has established Foundation-media partnerships focused on poverty and wealth. She previously served as marketing and communications director for The Ellis School, winning a CASE Gold Award for Institutional Branding for the school in 2015. Before Ellis, she served as director of marketing and communications for Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History, led a young adult audience development initiative for the University of Pittsburgh’s PITT ARTS program and was communications director for the Wilkinsburg School District. She volunteers on the community advisory board of WYEP-FM and the editorial advisory board for “Kidsburgh,” a publication of NEXTPittsburgh. Kitty is a huge fan of NPR, Russian novels and The New Yorker magazine. She is mom to a teenage girl and she plays on a soccer team for women age 30 and over.
