Foundations award $175,000 to support artists in the region

 

PITTSBURGH, Apr. 17, 2014 – The Heinz Endowments and The Pittsburgh Foundation have awarded grants totaling $175,000 to thirteen artists and organizations during the third funding cycle of Investing in Professional Artists, a program jointly sponsored by the foundations.

PITTSBURGH, Pa., Feb. 28, 2014 –The Pittsburgh Foundation last year exceeded $1 billion in total assets for the first time in its 69-year history, helped by continued strong growth in its annual fundraising, the creation of new charitable funds by families and individuals, and the results of its robust investment strategy.

Hunger appeal raises over $600,000 after “outstanding community response”

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 9, 2014  --  The Pittsburgh Foundation’s emergency community-wide appeal has raised $617,804 to help food banks in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties meet an unprecedented rise in demand.

In just four weeks spanning the holiday season, almost 1,400 individual donations were received at the Foundation’s on-line giving site at www.pittsburghgives.org. All contributions have been matched dollar-for-dollar, and the Foundation also covered credit card transaction fees.

The Pittsburgh Promise Receives Largest Pledge from an Individual –
Campaign Co-Chair and Community Leaders Marty and Ann McGuinn

PITTSBURGH, December 20, 2013 – The Pittsburgh Promise today announced that it has received a landmark individual scholarship fund pledge of $1 million from community leaders Marty and Ann McGuinn.  This is the single largest gift made by an individual to The Pittsburgh Promise.

Over 1,500 applications received for jobs with Pittsburgh’s new Mayoral administration

Talent City selection process underway

PITTSBURGH, Pa., Dec. 18, 2013 -- Over 1,500 applications have been received for senior management positions in Pittsburgh Mayor-elect Bill Peduto’s administration on The Pittsburgh Foundation’s specially-created website, Talent-City.com.

A total of 32 job descriptions were posted in November on the site, covering up to 43 positions in the areas of the Mayor’s Office, Finance and Administration, Public Safety and Urban Affairs, and Planning and Innovation, each offering annual salaries of between $60,000 and $106,000.

Second annual Carol R. Brown Creative Achievement Awards honor Roger Humphries and Tami Dixon

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 26, 2013 – The Carol R. Brown Creative Achievement Awards will celebrate two local artists for their career achievements at Momentum, the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council (GPAC) Annual Meeting on December 5, 2013.

Theater artist Tami Dixon will be honored as Emerging Artist and musician Roger Humphries will be honored as Established Artist. Each will receive a cash award of $15,000 in recognition of exemplary artistic achievements and promise for future work.
