The Pittsburgh Foundation

Streamlined grant process

Our new, streamlined grant application is now live and may be accessed via our online grant portal

From feedback from local nonprofit partners, combined with our experience with special initiatives such as Small and Mighty, the Emergency Action and Grantmaking for Racial Justice funds, we have focused on making it easier and faster for nonprofits to apply for funding across all of our grant-making streams.

Our staff has been assessing our grant-making practices and, as a result, we have identified key changes that will simplify our application process and reduce the burden on grantees. A few of the changes that we have adopted include:

  • Eliminating the requirement to submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI).
  • Reducing the number of narrative questions in the application.
  • Accepting applications submitted to other funders.
  • Simplifying the final report form – Only five questions!

For more information on our new grant-making process, you can watch a recording of the July 13, 2021 information session that featured a walk-through of the application, a review of our current application guidelines and a Q&A segment where we answered question posed by attendees.
