Agnes Wynona Breedon Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established: 11/1/2013

10159_Breedon.jpgThis scholarship was established in loving memory of Agnes Wynona (Blankenship) Breedon who passed away on December 22, 2012.  Wynona was born on February 7, 1932 in Swandale, Clay County, W.Va. to Arthur and Olive (Brady) Blankenship.  She was the middle child of five including herself, three sisters and one brother.  Wynona attended a one room school at Taylor Fork until she was ten.  Her family then moved to Middletown and she attended Middletown School.  She spent grades 9-12 at Richwood High School.  Wynona was an honor roll student throughout her academic years.  She graduated Richwood High School in 1949 at the age 17.

In 1949 she married Jennings Dan Breedon who was also a graduate of RHS.  They became parents of four girls and two boys, all of whom were born at the McClung Hospital in Richwood.  Beginning in 1962 the family moved to various cities in Pennsylvania and then in 1971 they made Lower Burrell, PA their permanent residence.

Wynona and family continually visited Richwood through the years to spend time with family and friends.  She dedicated her life to her husband, children and extended family.  Wynona placed a high value on education and all of the children were given the opportunity to pursue higher education. This memorial scholarship commemorates the example she gave to all of us, her love of West Virginia, her affection of life spent in Richwood, and her appreciation of a solid education.
