Gently Used Home Health Equipment Needed

When: Saturday, August 16, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: 2850 Penn Avenue (in parking lot behind Guardian Storage)

The American Red Cross of Western Pennsylvania, in partnership with Pittsburgh-based medical relief agency Global Links, will host a community collection of gently used home health equipment on Saturday, August 16, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the parking lot of 2850 Penn Avenue located behind Guardian Storage on Liberty Avenue in the Strip District. The collection drive is being held in conjunction with a disaster trailer washing and restocking event conducted by the American Red Cross.

Items collected will increase capacity to serve and assist individuals with medical or mobility needs in the event of displacement during a disaster within the region.

Crutches, canes, walkers, wheelchairs, nebulizers and shower benches are needed. All donated equipment will be cleaned and refurbished by Global Links volunteers, then stocked in Red Cross disaster trailers.

About Global Links
Global Links is a medical relief and development organization dedicated to improving health in resource-poor communities, primarily in the Western Hemisphere. Global Links collaborates with U.S. health care institutions and the community to recover hundreds of tons of high-quality surplus medical materials every year that would otherwise be sent to landfills. These materials are shared with public health institutions that are providing care for their country’s most vulnerable people. In western Pennsylvania, Global Links offers numerous volunteer opportunities, donates materials to other non-profit organizations, and supports international medical service trips.  For more information, visit www.globallinks.org.
