Joseph Bullick Scholarship Fund

Established: 6/18/1996

The Joseph Bullick Scholarship Fund was established at The Pittsburgh Foundation to benefit students in the North Allegheny School District which he served for so many years in memory of two important women in his life. One of those women was Kathleen Fitzpatrick, who gave Joe a stable home from ages four to 10 after being shuffled between several foster homes. It is also in memory of Joe’s mother, Elizabeth Evans, who cared for him after her marriage to George Bullick in October 1941 until her untimely death of pneumonia on Nov. 27, 1941. Following his mother's death, Katherine Fitzpatrick again opened her home to Joe during and after his teenage years.

The scholarship benefits girls in the North Allegheny School District. Joseph Bullick was an employee of North Allegheny School District for 40 years, beginning as custodian and eventually as supervisor of custodial services. Throughout his career, Joe was involved with students, coaching the North Allegheny girls golf team for 12 years and coaching the North Allegheny girls softball team for 17 years.
