In 2012, the estate of the late William S. Dietrich II established three funds at The Pittsburgh Foundation to support charitable programs in the communities of Conneaut Lake, PA, Greenville, PA, and the Pittsburgh region. These funds are: The Dietrich Foundation's Community Fund at The Pittsburgh Foundation, The Dietrich Foundation Greenville, Pa. Fund and The Dietrich Foundation Conneaut Lake, Pa. Fund.

The source of the funds were the Dietrich Charitable Trusts (DCT), which were charitable remainder trusts, created by Mr. Dietrich, owning assets principally generated by the 1996 sale of Dietrich Industries.  The assets of the DCT funded a new charitable organization, The Dietrich Foundation, which administers the funds earmarked for The Pittsburgh Foundation and annually transfer a portion thereof to The Pittsburgh Foundation.

Oversight for all of Mr. Dietrich’s funds at The Pittsburgh Foundation is provided by separate advisory committees appointed by The Dietrich Foundation.
