The Indiana County Endowment, formerly known as the Greater Indiana Endowment, was established in 1990 by local citizens who contributed their time and financial resources to support worthwhile improvements in the community. These early patrons included Indiana native Jimmy Stewart and his wife, Gloria.
Indiana County Endowment is a component fund of The Pittsburgh Foundation. All donations will be used in Indiana County.
The mission of the Indiana County Endowment is to meet needs in Indiana County by providing grants to qualified nonprofit organizations. It recognizes that community organizations require assistance with programs, products, and approaches in order to meet demonstrated cultural, ecological, social, educational, recreational and economic needs. The Endowment encourages programs that will enrich the community, encouraging both individuals and organizations to develop creative ideas and initiatives to aid the community, and encouraging the wide possible citizen involvement in advancing the social, economic and cultural development of Indiana County, Pa.
Indiana County Endowment provides seed monies to help activate a venture conceived, designed and executed by a group, club or organization within Indiana County; as a grant-in-aid for a research or study project for the benefit of the county; provides support for specific events; and/or provides help to initiate activities to secure or improve property for the general welfare of the county. However, it does not provide grants for normal operating expenses or assists commercial enterprises.
