Dietrich Foundation Conneaut Lake Fund invites grant applications
PITTSBURGH, Pa., Jan. 5, 2017 -- The Pittsburgh Foundation is accepting grant applications for The Dietrich Foundation Conneaut Lake, Pa. Fund. Selection of grantees will be made by the nine-member committee of The Dietrich Foundation and grant awards will be announced in May.
Announcing the fall 2016 Advancing Black Arts awards
The Advancing Black Arts in Pittsburgh grants program, a partnership of The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Heinz Endowments, has awarded nearly $308,000 in grants to 18 artists and arts organizations. Since its inception in 2010, the program has invested about $4 million to support contemporary artists making art rooted in the black experience, past and present. It is the only grant-making program in the region explicitly dedicated to supporting the elimination of racial disparities within the larger arts sector.

Poet, fashion designer win Carol Brown Awards
PITTSBURGH, Nov. 11, 2016 – Two Pittsburgh-based artists will receive this year’s Carol R. Brown Creative Achievement Awards. A shared commitment of The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Heinz Endowments, the awards recognize exemplary artistic achievement by an established artist and an emerging artist each year. The two recipients are each awarded $15,000.
2016 Days of Giving – final results
As important as the $5.9 million raised this year is the culture of philanthropy that the events foster regionally among donors, nonprofits and the public. To date, Pittsburgh Foundation-sponsored Days of Giving have raised more than $43 million for regional nonprofits.
Endowed chair set for amyloidosis and heart failure
A new $2 million research effort at the University of Pittsburgh will oversee one of the most intensive investigative efforts in the country against amyloidosis and other diseases that lead to heart failure.
Preliminary Day of Giving Totals 2016
When added to the $1.2 million raised on the partially completed May 3 giving day, the $1.5 million in pledged matching funds, $200,000 in incentives and $60,000 in matching funds, this year’s giving days generated about $5.1 million for regional nonprofits.
