The Raymond H. Kohl Fund was established after Raymond passed away with deferred proceeds of his life insurance policies and commissions. He died on March 2, 1969.
Unfortunately, we know little about Ray. He lived in the South Hills community of Mt. Lebanon. While he established the fund with The Pittsburgh Foundation during his lifetime, it didn't become active until after his death. Raymond asked that the income "be expended in such approximately equal amounts as may be practicable" for research in the fields of arthritis and rheumatic disease, cancer, treatment and care of crippled children, heart disease and tuberculosis and other lung disorders. Today the fund continues to support the charitable work as designated by The Pittsburgh Foundation.
