The Hill Dance Academy Theater aims to Advance Black dance with youth 10 to 18 years of age in the Pittsburgh region. We know that there are Black and Brown students who want to dance and they want to pursue a career in dance. Over the next two years, HDAT will engage in a marketing campaign with the message that “Black Dance starts here at HDAT,” create a city-wide audition process and, starting in November 2022, actively identify and recruit students with a passion to dance. Representation Matters and students must see themselves through the stories, experiences and career trajectories of Black dance master artists, faculty and other professionals in Dance.
