YMCA’s Lighthouse Project will focus this grant on the development of the Future Roots Sample Library, a sample pack repository featuring and in collaboration with Black Pittsburgh musicians. The digital, royalty-free sample library that will be accessible to the music production community in Pittsburgh and all over the world, featuring collaborations with at least 20 Black musical contributors including bands, session musicians and vocalists. The Future Roots Sample Library will support the local arts economy by providing musicians with a unique way to monetize their craft while providing a platform for the “Pittsburgh sound” to be celebrated and present within the larger industry of popular music. James Brown is the project manager.
