Becca Root joined The Pittsburgh Foundation in July 2024 as a senior donor services officer and gift planning officer. In this role, she will be a part of the team cultivating strong relationships with donors and working closely with them to guide their philanthropic endeavors and legacy goals. Prior to coming to Pittsburgh, Becca was the managing director of development and communications for KIPP Massachusetts Public Schools for four years where she led fundraising, engagement and communications for the largest charter school network in Massachusetts. Becca started her career in education as a public-school teacher in Oklahoma City Public Schools with Teach for America. 

Becca earned a Master of Education in education and public policy from Harvard University Graduate School of Education and a Bachelor of Arts in communications from Hamilton College.

Originally from the Detroit area, Becca moved to Pittsburgh with her husband in July 2023 and they welcomed their daughter, Addie, in November 2023. An avid sports fan, in her spare time, she enjoys staying active, being outdoors and spending time with her family.
