Michelle Bozzelli was born and raised in Pittsburgh. She was born in April of 1959. She graduated from Gateway High School, before attending Pennsylvania State University where she studied finance. To further her education she attended and earned her Master's Degree from The University of Pittsburgh. While working in the accounting and finance department of Westinghouse she met her husband Joseph V. Bozzelli who worked in the same department as her. Joe was born in Toronto, Canada before moving to the United State for school and for work. In 1998, they welcomed daughter Jordan into the family.

Michelle Bozzelli loved helping people. Until her death she did not stop helping others. When diagnosed with a brain tumor, she decided to take part in as many research and clinical studies as possible. Although none of the tests and trials were unable to help her, the research and data provided has helped many others receive better treatment. Michelle passed away on Nov. 17, 2003.

After Michelle passed away from her tumor, her husband Joe decided to form the Brain Tumor Research Fund of The Pittsburgh Foundation in her honor. This fund was created to provide funding for medical and support services for individuals and families affected by brain tumors.
