Each year since 2012, the Carol R. Brown Creative Achievement Awards have recognized two southwestern Pennsylvania artists with grants of $15,000 presented at a celebration of the region’s arts community.
Previously, nominations were solicited from a small panel of Pittsburgh artists. This year, we invite the public to participate in the selection process by nominating artists for this award.
The Carol R. Brown Creative Achievement Awards are a component of the Investing in Professional Artists: The Pittsburgh Region Artists Program, sponsored by The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Heinz Endowments. Two grants of $15,000 are awarded annually, one to an Established Artist and one to an Emerging Artist living and working in southwestern Pennsylvania. These awards recognize the extraordinary contributions that Carol R. Brown made to support individual artists in the region during her distinguished career in the arts and her tenure as president of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. Unlike other Investing in Professional Artists funding streams, the Carol R. Brown Creative Achievement Awards are not project grants; rather, they are awards in recognition of exemplary artistic achievements and promise of future work.
Nominations will be accepted online for two days only – from 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, to 11:59 p.m. Thursday, July 11.
