The Diane Ballina Memorial Scholarship celebrates the life of Diane Ballina, a caring, giving, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Diane was a lifetime resident of New Kensington and Arnold. She loved her community and the people who call it home. Diane had a deep passion for young people and many of them knew her as “Mrs. B.” Whether volunteering with the pee-wee football team, running the sports boosters, or working as the principal’s secretary at Valley High School for more than 20 years, she showed her love and support of the students through her warm welcome into the high school office, the many graduation ceremonies that she planned, and her kind and loving spirit. Diane’s generous heart touched everyone she knew.
The Diane Ballina Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating senior of Valley High School who displays Diane’s spirit of giving back and making an impact in the community. Established in April 2021, the scholarship honors Diane’s life by encouraging the young people of the New Kensington-Arnold School District to get involved in their schools and community and to inspire others to do the same.
