Esplanade rendering on Pittsburgh's north shore.

The North Side’s Esplanade, a 700-unit, mixed-use development, has plans to include a Ferris wheel and the U.S.’s first “urban lagoon”/skating rink.

Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Pittsburgh’s iconic three rivers were an integral part of the region’s 20th-century ascension as a coal and steel resource for the nation. Today, our riverfronts are reflecting a new boom in development that is about livability as much as economic viability. Projects include: A splashy esplanade on the Ohio River, a rebuilt produce terminal in the Strip and a well-appointed mixed-use plan at Station Square. These are a few of the projects poised to lure more residents and business owners to the waterfronts.

Our fund holders are invited to learn more about these and several other exciting waterfront developments from a river view as we board the Rivers of Steel Explorer riverboat for a late summer guided tour.
