Evan R. Williams, a talented organ player, majored in music at Mount Union College (now University of Mount Union) in Alliance, Ohio. He graduated in 1977, but passed away less than a month later after a long battle with cancer.
His father, Gordon E. Williams, passed away in 1987, bequeathing a gift to The Pittsburgh Foundation in his son’s honor. Today, the Evan R. Williams Memorial Fund provides four-year college scholarships to low-income students who maintain passing grades.
