This fund was created in 1998 to provide scholarships to high school seniors in Allegheny County who are pursuing a career in fashion design. The fund was created by Salinger’s daughter, Esther Herschelle, to continue her mother’s commitment to assisting students interested in fashion design. Salinger founded the California-based Louise Salinger Academy of Fashion in 1939, which was later acquired by the Pittsburgh-based Education Management Corp. and later became an Art Institute.
