Caroline F. Holdship established The Margaret Holdship Memorial Fund in memory of her sister, Margaret. The fund promotes cancer research, supports children and youth and funds programs alleviating hunger and homelessness. Recent grant recipients include the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, the Allegheny County Department of Human Services and Partner4Work.

Margaret Holdship, who died on April 2, 1993, was a lifelong resident of the Sewickley area. In her youth, she appeared frequently in the newspapers of the day — including the “Pittsburgh Sun-Telegraph,” the “Pittsburgh Press” and the “Pittsburgh Post-Gazette” — for her charitable and social activities. Margaret Holdship was particularly committed to fundraising for hospitals and served in the Women’s Auxiliary of Allegheny General Hospital.
