Jaime Guerrero

Individual/Collective Exposure awardee: $20,000
This grant will go toward expanding Jaime Guerrero’s artistic practice, primarily centered around glass sculpting.
Jaime Guerrero is a Mexican-American glass sculptor and multi-disciplinary artist from Los Angeles. His artwork revolves around the notion that art can have a positive impact and create awareness about important issues surrounding systemically disadvantaged communities. His work is about identity, nostalgia and social justice. Guerrero draws from his experiences growing up in East Los Angeles and uses those experiences to inform his artwork and advocate for change.
Guerrero has been honing his craft for nearly 30 years, and this grant will go toward tools and equipment to develop his artwork and push the envelope on what is possible in glass, while simultaneously engaging with local communities by offering free glass blowing classes to youth, schools and organizations.
