Statement on public health response to coke works fire
PITTSBURGH, Jan. 24, 2019 – The following statement is issued by Pittsburgh Foundation President and CEO Maxwell King in support of Allegheny County Health Department staff’s increased monitoring and enforcement action against air polluters in the region:

Foundation report gives voice to single mothers facing poverty
A Pittsburgh Foundation study of the lived experiences of single mothers in Allegheny County has found that, though the women as a group face the highest levels of poverty, their love for their children and their capacity for hard work push them to heroic lengths – despite systemic barriers and societal stigma – to better their families’ prospects.
Advancing Black Arts in Pittsburgh announces $427,660 in grants
A total of $427,660 in grants has been distributed to regional artists and arts programs in the second of two funding cycles for 2018. New in this latest round are three $10,000 grants for special projects and nearly $50,000 more in funding than was awarded in the spring to individual artists and residencies.

Tony Award-winning artistic director Oskar Eustis to speak Dec. 10

Brown Creative Achievement Awards, legendary artistic director and producer Oskar Eustis will engage in a moderated discussion about the role and responsibility of artists in society.
