Three Conneaut Lake organizations receive grants to improve the community
CONNEAUT LAKE, Pa., June 5, 2017 – The Dietrich Foundation Conneaut Lake, PA Fund of The Pittsburgh Foundation has awarded $8,864 in grants, a 60 percent increase from last year’s total. Grantees this year are the Conneaut Lake Community Development Committee, the Ice House Park and the Girl Scouts of Western Pennsylvania.
Critical Needs online giving event raises record $1.3 million
Bolstered by a match pool of $657,000 from The Pittsburgh Foundation and its donors, Tuesday’s Critical Needs Alert online giving event set a record for donations, raising $1.3 million for Allegheny and Westmoreland county nonprofits to provide basic needs – food, housing, health care, child care and transportation – directly to economically struggling populations.

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 19, 2017 – When Bill Copeland’s service in the 1980s and 1990s on the Foundation’s Board of directors, including extraordinary leadership as chair, was set to end in 1999, the first order of business of the Governance Committee was a unanimous vote to appoint him to the Executive Committee in emeritus status.
Foundation report calls for youth voices in juvenile justice reform
Eight areas identified where youth and stakeholders can improve system PITTSBURGH, Feb. 13, 2017 – An eight-month study by The Pittsburgh Foundation has found that youth involved with the Allegheny County juvenile justice system could play a much greater role in shaping prevention and diversion programs. The report also recommends addressing disproportionate system involvement by youth of color, particularly girls, and that youth have a seat the table with human services staffs, law-enforcement authorities and school officials.
