Choreographer Staycee R. Pearl, musician INEZ named Carol R. Brown Creative Achievement Award honorees

The Heinz Endowments, The Pittsburgh Foundation and Opportunity Fund PITTSBURGH, DEC. 13, 2021- The Carol R. Announcing the BIPOC Artist Micro-Grant program awardees

Seventy-five artists from the region who are Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) have received micro-grants of $1,000 each from The Pittsburgh Foundation’s Center for Philanthropy. The awards were funded through the Foundation’s Mac Miller Fund.

Announcing the latest Demarest Fund prize awardees

Three artists will receive awards of $18,000 each from the Eben Demarest Fund. The awards were announced by The Pittsburgh Foundation, which has overseen the Demarest awards since 2010. Typically, one awardee is selected every other year but last year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the selection committee was unable to meet. Funds unawarded last year carried forward and grew, making awards possible for three artists this cycle. The awardees are Pittsburgh-based visual artist Gavin Benjamin, Evanston, Illinois-based figurative realist painter Daniela Kovačić, and Brooklyn-based sculptor Kennedy Yanko.

BIPOC Artist Micro-Grant program established through Mac Miller Fund

A new arts funding initiative created by The Pittsburgh Foundation’s Center for Philanthropy will award 75 micro-grants of $1,000 to Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) artists to assist them in their work.
