Theater director, documentary filmmaker are winners of the  2015 Carol. R. Brown Creative Achievement Awards PITTSBURGH, Nov. 2, 2015 – Two Pittsburgh-based artists will receive this year’s Carol R. Brown Creative Achievement Awards. The awards, a shared commitment of The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Heinz Endowments to invest in local artists, recognize exemplary artistic achievement and the promise of maintaining that level of excellence in future work. Two recipients — an established artist and an emerging artist – are each awarded $15,000.

Military-grade dog crates will keep K-9 officers safe on the job (PITTSBURGH, PA) October 20, 2015… The K-9 Unit of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police is safer and better equipped thanks to the donation of 23 military dog crates funded by the Officer Rocco K-9 Memorial Fund at The Pittsburgh Foundation. The crate purchase was made possible by a special donation to the Fund by business owner, animal lover and philanthropist Scott Noxon of Robinson Township.

Rising faculty members at six Pennsylvania universities get support through Pittsburgh Foundation’s Charles E. Kaufman funding PITTSBURGH, Pa., Aug. 12, 2015 -- The Charles E. Kaufman Foundation, one of The Pittsburgh Foundation’s charitable entities, today announced this year’s grants awarded through its annual competition to support basic research. Nearly $2 million will go to cutting-edge scientific research at universities across Pennsylvania.

Promise Award Scholarship Changes Assure Long-term SustainabilityPITTSBURGH, July 14, 2015 – To ensure that scholarships serve more students for a longer period of time, the Board of Directors of The Pittsburgh Promise has approved a plan to refine its scholarship structure and maximize its impact.

GenJump! was designed by The Pittsburgh Foundation in response to requests from donors to present opportunities to engage younger generations in philanthropy (i.e. what “doing good” or “giving back” means to them).Grandparents and grandchildren will participate in a half-day session with Pittsburgh Foundation staff and Light of Life mission on the Northside of Pittsburgh in a service learning opportunity.  The November session will focus on the challenges facing homeless women and children.
