About the 2025 award: $50,000 to support the development of a film to reintroduce jazz to Black culture, not as nostalgia, performance, or genre, but as a living language and design technology created for us and by us.

TERRELL M. ROBINSON JR., aka AMARUKAN SUN is a Pittsburgh-based filmmaker developing a cinematic language where feeling leads and image follows. His work moves between structure and instinct, shaping stories that unfold through rhythm, tone, and presence. Each film is crafted to resonate, lingering beyond the frame.
