Dr. Joseph T. Bowser was a pioneer in the field of dentistry who practiced for six decades in what was formerly the Jenkins Arcade building in Pittsburgh. He died on May 4, 2001, at the age of 101.

Joseph was born in New Bethlehem, Pa. He moved to Pittsburgh in 1918 to attend The University of Pittsburgh where he earned a degree in dentistry in 1922. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oakland. He was a lifetime member of the Pittsburgh Athletic Association where more than 100 people celebrated his 100th birthday at a party.

The fund is designated for the Build for the Blind in Bridgeville, now known as Pittsburgh Vision Services, Shriners' Hospital for Children and the Western Pennsylvania School for the Blind.
