Established Sept. 4, 1999, the Alfred E. Jones and Frances Bridgeman Jones Memorial Fund benefits Georgetown University in Washington, DC, as well as Catholic Charities, Ladies of Charity, Little Sisters of the Poor, Catholic school tuitions in western Pennsylvania, WQED Pittsburgh and the Sisters of St. Joseph in Baden, Pennsylvania.  

Alfred E. Jones died on May 31, 1989. He worked for Koppers Co. from 1941 to 1978. He was a former president of the National Association of Purchasing Management and was honored with the John Shipman Gold Medal in 1977. Jones led a number of task forces for the Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce with the goal of improving city purchasing practices. His wife, Frances Bridgeman Jones, died on June 20, 2000.
