George Ludwig Illig Jr. created the George and Jeanne Illig Fund in 1998. The Fund benefits a number of Pittsburgh organizations, including Breachmenders Ministries Inc., Thomas Merton Center Inc., Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, The Early Learning Institute, Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers of Southwestern Pennsylvania, New Century Careers Inc., Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Green Tree Public Library, Pittsburgh Symphony Inc., Wallace Memorial Presbyterian Church and Unity Presbyterian Church. 

George Ludwig Illig Jr. died in 2013, and both he and his wife, Jeanne, volunteered in numerous organizations. They both volunteered at St. Clair Hospital, with Meals on Wheels and with the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council. Both George and Jeanne were active members of Wallace Memorial Presbyterian Church, now Unity Presbyterian Church. George also volunteered with the Green Tree Public Library and was a school board member on the Green Tree and Keystone Oaks school boards for 13 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946 in Europe. 

Jeanne Riddle Illig Ashbrook died in 2010. She grew up in Ingram and was active throughout her life in her local PTA, the Green Tree Women’s Civic Club and in the Green Tree Garden Club. Jeanne was also generous with her time and spent time volunteering with Peace Links, Common Cause, The Pittsburgh Ballet, Bethlehem Haven and Allegheny Hospital.
