ABOUT THE SECOND CHANCE FUND
The Second Chance Fund was established in August 2006 through the Community Foundation of Westmoreland County. The purpose of the fund is to donate to various non-profits whose mission and purpose is in sync with the Second Chance Fund. Grants have been provided to the American Heart Association, CORE (Center for Organ Recovery & Education), the National Kidney Foundation, American Liver Foundation and The Children's Institute. As the fund grows we look forward to many other possibilities.
Malinda Cecchini-Sherid's late husband, Fred, died Christmas night of a fatal heart attack. Fourteen months later, her daughter Kimberly, died of injuries she received an a car accident. Kimberly was an organ donor. Through her gift of donation, Kimberly has given a second chance at life to her many recipients. Through the encouragement of Malinda’s new husband, John, they established the Second Chance Fund. An annual walk is held to raise monies for the Second Chance Fund.
