Albert B. Baxter established the Albert B. Baxter Fund to support the Arnold United Methodist Church and the Springdale Free Public Library. The fund was established after his death in June 2014, when the amount remaining in Mr. Baxter's Charitable Gift Annuity was donated to The Pittsburgh Foundation.

Baxter spent his career working for Gulf Oil, and later moved back to Cheswick, Pennsylvania, where he grew up. Before joining the Navy, he taught science at West Nottingham Academy in Maryland. He was engineering officer in the seventh fleet during the Korean War. A lifelong member of the Arnold United Methodist Church and a board member of the Springdale Free Public Library and the Allegheny Valley Federal Credit Union, Baxter was passionate about his local community. His generosity also extended to his love of gardening, and he often gave fresh vegetables to his neighbors and friends.
