Robert and Gladys Burstein established their fund in 1988 to honor Robert’s parents, Charles and Anna.
Charles Burstein, born in New York in 1890, moved to Pittsburgh and became a partner in a scrap iron company. By 1935 he’d married his wife, Anna—an Ohio native born in 1892—and had two children, Florence and Robert. Charles passed away in 1967; Anna followed eight years later.
For over twenty years, the Charles C. and Anna Z. Burstein Fund has been honoring their memory by promoting arts, education, health care, and Jewish organizations across the region.
