The Still Waters Fund was established in memory of Lance Perry Snyder, who was taken away too soon at the age of 30. Lance passed away after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer. He had a glioblastoma that he fought heroically. Lance was a graduate of Fox Chapel High School and James Madison University with a degree in finance. He later when on to become a top seller at Howard Hanna Real Estate.

Gifted in design, he bought and renovated a home on Virginia Avenue in Aspinwall to start a new chapter in his life with his future wife. Lance had a heart for children, especially nieces and nephews, and for volunteering, including the homeless ministry of Pittsburgh and the Fox Chapel junior varsity hockey team. Above all, Lance was a fly fisherman, who rested in the still waters of an evening hatch.

Lance was able to meet and impact so many people in the short amount of time he was here. His friends and family started the Lance Perry Snyder Annual Golf Outing in order to have his memory live on through friendship, laughter and storytelling. Over the years, we’ve been able to raise money to grant gifts to Casting for Recovery and Pennies from Heaven. Casting for Recovery offers a retreat for women with breast cancer to heal through the sport of fly fishing. The Pennies from Heaven Fund helps to ease financial hardships for parents so that they can stay with their children in the hospital. They keep families together. He would’ve been proud to support both organizations as well as any other that offered help to those in need.
