Established in 2015, the Rev. Ed Bowen Fund for Children of Southern Wayne County, West Virgina, benefits organizations that serve disadvantaged families with children in the communities of Dunlow, Genoa, Radnor and Crum in southern Wayne County. Its goal is to provide children opportunities to enhance their spiritual, physical and educational development;  for needed repairs and improvements to homes that are not adequately safe, dry and warm; for efforts to alleviate hunger, and to provide shoes, coats and clothing to those in need. The fund has financed youth group trips, summer youth ministry, laptops and technology, and food and Christmas presents for children of low-income families.

Rev. Bowen was a prominent pastor of Crafton United Presbyterian Church for 12 years before moving to Huntingdon, West Virginia to become a pastor at Bates Memorial Presbyterian Church. He also was pastor at United Presbyterian Church in Vandergrift, Pennsylania, and attended Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. In both West Virginia and Crafton, Rev. Bowen created after-school programs, donated to local schools and organizations and worked directly with his community. He was widely beloved for his spirit of generosity by the time of his death in 2016.
