Machines, sports, and a smile were part of everyday life for Nick Neiderhiser. His smile and kind heart touched everyone that knew him. Whether he was working on a car, his dirt bike, or going to practice he had a smile and an outstretched hand for everyone he passed.
Nick was a Ligonier Valley High School junior and studied machine tool technology at Eastern Westmoreland Career and Technology Center (EWCTC). He had a passion for the work and skills he was learning. Nick started to fabricate his own car and dirt bike parts and got a job at a local machine shop, Custom Carbide Grinding.
Nick also enjoyed playing baseball and football whether it was in the community just for fun or for the Ligonier Valley School District. He was also a member of the Chestnut Ridge 4-H Club and raised market hogs. The things that made Nick the happiest were working on his car, riding dirt bikes with friends and hunting.
His family established the Nicholas Neiderhiser Memorial Fund in memory of Nick. The fund benefits the youth of the Ligonier area and students attending EWCTC by providing funds to local schools and organizations that enable students to further their education in the industrial arts and be recognized for outstanding character and serving their community.
