Danitra Mason joined The Pittsburgh Foundation in 2017 and serves as controller, bringing strategic financial leadership, deep accounting expertise and operational acumen to the Foundation and its supporting organizations. She helps guide finance and accounting activities, strengthens financial practices and applies insights from prior roles to support an organization that directly benefits the greater Pittsburgh community. A Pittsburgh native, Danitra pairs technical proficiency with a strong commitment to community impact.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Danitra spent nine years working in the audit practice of KPMG LLP, serving mid- to large-sized companies in the manufacturing, power and utilities, and finance industries. Her advancement to senior audit manager demonstrated her ability to lead complex engagements, manage and develop teams, navigate technical accounting matters and exercise sound professional judgment. As a local and national instructor for firm-sponsored training, she also distinguished herself as a skilled communicator and educator with the ability to translate auditing standards and technical concepts into practical guidance.

Danitra is a licensed certified public accountant in Pennsylvania and a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. She has served on the board of the local chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. and completed the Advanced Leadership Institute’s Executive Leadership Academy in 2023. She continues to apply her strengths in financial stewardship, organizational leadership and service as an elder and treasurer for Mosaic Community Church on the North Side.

Outside of work, Danitra enjoys exploring new restaurants with her husband and nurturing the talents of her two school-aged children.
