Will “Power” Pilarski was first diagnosed with brain cancer (Medulloblastoma) at the age of six. Over the next year, he underwent intensive chemoradiation therapy whereby his battle cry became: "Will" Power - I Can, I Will....Watch Me.
Given a less than 20% chance of survival, a high chance of needing academic assistance and stunted growth due to intensive treatment, Will did overcome those odds and triumphed. He remained a straight-A student at Hampton Central Elementary, a permanent fixture on the Hampton Wolverine tournament baseball team and a four-time PA Gymnastics state qualifier. With constant determination, Will Power, and an infectious smile, Will inspired everyone who knew his story.
Then, two and a half years later, at the age of nine, he was diagnosed with a second brain cancer (Glioblastoma) and given a chance of survival of near zero. Even through this second diagnosis, Will never gave up and fought until the end. He passed away in his parents' arms on Dec. 30, 2017. He was just 10 years old.
The Will Power Scholarship Fund was established by his family in September 2022 as a loving tribute to their cherished son and brother. It is intended to celebrate Will’s life, honor his courage and serve as a lasting reminder of how many lives he touched.
