Susan Kirsch joined The Pittsburgh Foundation's Board of Directors in December 2024.
Sue’s career and her impact on the Pittsburgh community are exemplified by three themes: dedication, compassion and an unwavering commitment to service.
She is a highly accomplished professional with more than 35 years of expertise in public accounting and tax advisory services at Scheider Downs. She became the first woman to serve on Schneider Downs’ board of directors and as a practice unit leader—a true trailblazer in her industry. At Schneider Downs, Sue demonstrated exceptional leadership, guiding a team of more than 100 tax professionals and co-leading a practice focused on serving higher education institutions. Her work has helped to ensure that critical organizations—ranging from colleges to nonprofits—operate effectively and thrive in their missions.
Beyond Sue’s professional accolades is her deep commitment to giving back to the Pittsburgh community. She has held leadership roles on numerous nonprofit boards, including the FISA Foundation, the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, the Jewish Healthcare Foundation and many others. During the pandemic, she played a pivotal role in helping nonprofits access critical financial resources, ensuring essential services reached those who needed them most. Sue’s contributions have made a lasting impact on organizations that serve as the backbone of our region.
Balancing a remarkable career while raising four children, she exemplifies the values of family and resilience. She has shared that the ability to balance family and a high-impact career is one of her greatest achievements.
