FAFSA and Financial Information
Below is information for applications that include financial information and FAFSA questions:
In 2024, the FAFSA was launched. Changes include the following updated nomenclature:
- The FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS) replaces the Student Aid Report (SAR).
- The Student Aid Index (SAI) replaces the Expected Family Contribution (EFC).
- The SAI is not a dollar amount, but instead an index number indicating level of need.
- The SAI number can be as low as -1500.
- Students with SAIs between -1500 and 0 have the highest need and are eligible for the highest Pell Grant funding.
The FAFSA now considers the number of dependents in the household but does not consider how many dependents are enrolled in higher education as it did previously. With an update to the Additional Details question, we encouraged students to report this and any other challenging circumstances.
