In 2019, the Roy Wyss Fund was created to honor Roy’s life by supporting those organizations with missions that resonate with the things for which he cared deeply, such as being outdoors and making music. He died in Nov. 2018 at age 31.

Roy was physical adept and competitive. He welcomed physical and sporting challenges and worked tirelessly to master his goals. As a diver at Franklin Regional High School, Roy qualified for the state finals and set the pool record his senior year in 2005, and later as a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania.  Roy more recently completed the Bike Pittsburgh 100 km ride twice and was chasing records for biking times on specific legs of routes in Pittsburgh.

Roy graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in philosophy, politics and economics and was employed as a senior business analyst at PNC Bank in downtown Pittsburgh, where he frequently biked to work.

Central to Roy’s being was a love of the outdoors and making music, and he was a fan of concerts and music festivals. His love of the outdoors led Roy to camping and hiking experiences, poetic observations of nature and even sky-diving. The hope is that the fund will help make new memories in his name by supporting those organizations that promote access to outdoor activities and music-making experiences for children and teenagers.
