Sara Swaney joined The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County teams as a development officer in Oct. 2021. She works with the advisor population in both regions to help clients create philanthropic plans. Sara is trained in the 21/64 methodology for facilitating multigenerational meetings with families to define and implement their philanthropic goals.
Before joining the Foundation, Sara spent four years with 412 Food Rescue where she led fundraising and engagement. Including time at Westmoreland County Food Bank and The Salvation Army, Sara brings more than 12 years of fundraising experience in the Pittsburgh region to her role. She earned her Bachelor of Science in business administration from Duquesne University and since 2004 has been active in community and professional development, including participation in the CORO Center for Civic Leadership’s Women in Leadership program. Sara is also a member of the Estate Planning Council of Pittsburgh.
She lives in Westmoreland County with her husband and son. In her free time, she and her family enjoy exploring southwestern Pa., especially hiking in the Laurel Highlands.
