Service dog Annie -- beloved golden retriever of Benjamin and Adrienne Lear -- spends some "down time" at home in her backyard garden. She has been a volunteer at local hospitals helping to lift the spirits not only of patients, but hospital staff and visitors too.
This Gift of a Service Dog Fund was established by Benjamin and Adrienne Lear to create a gift to those in need of a service dog to improve their quality of life. The Fund will support organizations that provide service dogs to individuals in western Pennsylvania whose life can be made better by having a companion dog by their side. This would not have been possible without Lois Fogle, a gifted certified master dog instructor. It was through Lois that Ben and Adrienne developed a passion for wanting to help people who need a service dog.
Benjamin and Adrienne believe they have been called to create this wonderful gift. They had a very special, gifted and highly trained dog that visited hospitals, nursing homes, schools and hospice facilities – it had a tremendous impact on so many people. It became evident that having a service dog directly equated to individuals leading more independent and fulfilling lives.
