The parishioners of St. Philip Catholic Church united to create the fund to provide educational grants to their parish high school graduates who choose to attend schools of higher education listed in the Newman Guide. The Cardinal Newman Society recommends only Catholic colleges and universities that are loyal to the teaching magisterium of the Church, devoted to Catholic Tradition and committed to a faithful Catholic Liberal Arts education.

St. Philip Catholic Church, comprised of approximately 200 families, is situated in the small rural community of Linesville in northwestern Pennsylvania near Pymatuning Lake. Given the economic challenges facing the area and the increasing tuition costs of a quality Catholic education, the parishioners of St. Philip Church felt a need to assist and support their young people who desire to continue their post high school education at a traditional Catholic institution of higher learning who might not otherwise be able to pursue their dream.

Through fundraising efforts, outreach to the community and generous donors, this fund established in 2021 will help to provide a quality Catholic education for the students who desire it throughout the years to come. This fund will not only meet the immediate needs of young people seeking a Catholic higher education but will help to engender a spirit of Christian values, service and devotion in fostering faithful Church and community leaders for the future.
